The Friendly Eating Place Last weekend – June 9th – I was walking through ‘Old Compton St.’
around Soho in Central London when my mate Ian pointed out an eating-place that I would never even have noticed.
It was the ‘StockPot’.
Now being 10.30pm, and very hungry, I felt like something to eat. But instant thoughts were ‘crowded’ and ‘expensive’. I mean this is Central London; and just fish and chips as a ‘take away’ in paper from the chipee near ‘Comptons’ nearly caused an overdraft the last time I went there.
But the ‘StockPot’ was amazing!
The staff was so friendly, it was a bright cheerful place; I had my meal in about 10 mins – omelette/chips – for under £4 – superb!
The next day we went to Greenwich, did a bit of a walk around, you know – ‘The Royal Observatory’, and the ‘Cutty Sark’ – took ages looking round the open-air markets.
Then we came across ‘Noodles’ an Oriental restaurant.
Again this place was so friendly, cheerful, and the quality outstanding. I had sweet&sour chicken with egg/rice. The presentation was impressive, and the service quick.
At such a reasonable price – change from £5.
A lot of people have suggested that maybe we could get some kind of link up, of places to eat, of this kind.
This weekend just gone made me think that perhaps this is worth trying.
But it’s up to you, can you suggest anywhere that comes up to a good standard, for people on the move.
I remember being in Fort -Lauderdale, just outside Miami last year.
And there was a great restaurant – ‘The Floridian’- practical, friendly, efficient, and great steak meals- And so cheap!
In Britain, the US or abroad, share it with us.
